We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving all those in need in the Sacramento area. We have been a level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home since 2011 and were the first to earn that designation in Sacramento. About the Position 

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will provide the technological and informational vision and leadership for the organization.  The CIO will lead the healthcare organization in planning and implementing enterprise information systems and programs that support both distributed and centralized clinical and business operations. The CIO will lead an efficient, cost beneficial, quality focused enterprise-wide program as it relates to information.  The CIO will be responsible for defining the strategic vision for information and technology and ensuring that it is effectively aligned with One Community Health's organizational vision and goals.

Core Duties

  • Works with the CEO and others to provides strategic and tactical planning, development and evaluation of the IT structure to provide excellent patient care.
  • Responsible for the management and integration of the organization's information and communications systems, including voice, data, imaging, and other office automation
  • Assures that there are adequate user-training programs for new and legacy software.
  • Oversees and evaluates system security and back up procedures.
  • Focuses on quality data, metrics and reporting.
  • Oversees policy development and content.
  • Defines IT strategic vision and ensures that it is effectively aligned with organizational vision and goals.
  • Partners with departmental leadership providing strategic IT decision-making and the implementation and/or upgrading of technology within organization workflows.
  • Plan and direct the health information management service areas, ensuring compliance with professional, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement organizational policies and procedures for patient data services
  • Oversight of administration for all software on organization workstations or used by staff. This includes software that contains patient data, business software, and software vendors/partners that provide services outside the organization's network.
  • Supervise the development of a strategic plan for hardware and network projects, including budget decisions, project prioritization, and project management.
  • Ensures that all software supports the business processes and workflows used by organization; supports current standard practices for healthcare and technology.
  • Oversight of data reporting plan for clinical activities and outcomes for strategic initiatives and grants.
  • Well-versed in cybersecurity and advising end-users on ways to prevent cyberattacks, making them aware of known threats, scams and red flags.
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Supervises Security Officer role and ensures that data and IT assets are well protected based on current HIPAA and IT compliance standards.

  • Position requires a minimum of a BS degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, plus five years professional experience.
  • A MBA or MS degree in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred.
  • Experience/Certification in EPIC
  • CCNA/CCNP certification preferred
  • SQL background preferred
  • High degree of focus and attention to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Licenses required for this position must be kept current, valid, and in good standing with the presiding entity.
